🌙 The Moonlight Buffalo of Prey Chan Village

March 16, 2026

In Prey Chan Village, everyone knew about the mysterious white buffalo that appeared only on nights when the moon was full. Some said it was a spirit. Others said it was a blessing sent by the sky.

But no one had ever seen it up close—
except a boy named Nak.

Nak was quiet and thoughtful. He loved sitting by the rice fields at night, watching fireflies dance above the water. One full-moon evening, as he sat on a wooden bridge, he heard soft footsteps behind him.

When he turned, his breath caught.

Standing in the moonlight was a majestic white buffalo, its fur shimmering like silver water. Its horns glowed faintly, and its eyes were calm and wise.

Nak pressed his hands together.
“Are you… real?”

The buffalo bowed its head gently, as if answering yes.

Then, without warning, the buffalo stepped forward and touched Nak’s forehead with its luminous horn.

A warm light blossomed inside him.

Suddenly, Nak could hear the voices of the fields—the rustle of rice plants, the whisper of the wind, the quiet laughter of distant streams.

“You can understand nature now,” the buffalo spoke in a voice like soft thunder. “Use this gift to help your village.”

The next morning, Nak woke with new awareness.

When the wind blew strangely, he knew rain was coming.
When the water birds gathered low, he sensed a flood approaching.
When the soil felt tired beneath his feet, he knew the crops needed rest.

Nak warned the villagers of dangers before they arrived.
He guided farmers on when to plant and when to harvest.
Their fields grew healthier, and their lives became peaceful.

Everyone wondered how Nak knew so much.

Nak simply smiled.

One night, the buffalo appeared one last time.

“You have used your gift wisely,” it said. “Now the village can live in harmony with nature.”

The buffalo slowly faded into moonlight, leaving only a soft glow in the air.

From that day on, Nak became known as The Listener of the Land, and the people of Prey Chan lived in balance with the world around them.
