Deep in a peaceful forest near a winding river, lived a kind young girl named Sreyna. Every morning she gathered fruits and herbs to help her family. She loved the forest deeply and always greeted the animals with respect.
One warm afternoon, while walking along the riverbank, Sreyna heard soft whimpering. She followed the sound and found a small monkey sitting alone in the shade of a tall tree.
Its eyes were sad, its tail curled tightly, and its tiny hands trembled.
Sreyna gently knelt down and pressed her palms together in a respectful greeting.
“Little one, are you hurt?” she asked softly.
The monkey looked up at her, its eyes full of worry. Though it could not speak, Sreyna felt its sadness as clearly as if it had spoken words.
She noticed the monkey’s foot was swollen, likely from stepping on a thorny branch. Without fear, Sreyna reached into her small basket, took out a cool leaf from the forest herb she had gathered, and placed it gently on the monkey’s foot.
“You’re safe now. I’ll help you,” she whispered.
The monkey blinked slowly, feeling comfort for the first time that day.
Sreyna stayed with the monkey until the pain eased. She shared bits of fruit with it, and soon its frightened eyes softened. When it finally stood, it wrapped its tiny arms around her in gratitude before scampering back toward the trees.
From that day on, wherever Sreyna walked in the forest, the monkey followed at a distance—no longer lonely, no longer afraid.
