In a quiet mountain village near Phnom Sralau, there lived a 15-year-old girl named Sovannary. She loved exploring the hills behind her home, especially at night when the stars were bright and the air was cool.
One evening, while walking near a cliff, she heard a soft ting… ting…
It sounded like a bell—but not from the village temple.
Curious, Sovannary followed the sound up a narrow stone path. The moon rose higher, glowing silver over the mountaintop.
At the very peak, she found something amazing:
A small glass bell, floating a few inches above the ground.
It shimmered with moonlight, casting soft rays across the rocks.
Nary whispered,
“Who placed this here…?”
When she touched the bell, the mountain wind suddenly stopped.
The clouds parted.
And the moonlight gathered into a single beam that formed… a figure.
It was an old woman in a glowing white shawl.
✨ The Moon Guardian Speaks
“You have a kind heart, Sovannary,” the spirit said.
“This bell rings only for those who listen carefully to the world.”
Nary stepped back in awe.
“What is it for?”
The Guardian smiled.
“When the Moon Bell rings, it means someone in the valley needs help.
Only a pure listener can hear it.”
As the spirit faded, she added:
“Protect the Bell. It will guide you.”
Suddenly—
TING!
The bell glowed bright gold.
Nary looked down the mountain.
In the distance, in the dark forest, she saw a small flicker of light—like someone holding a lantern and calling for help.
She took a deep breath.
“It’s starting,” she whispered.
And she ran down the mountain trail.
